About Barrowland Ballroom

Barrowland Ballroom is one of the greatest live music venues on earth — full stop. Built in 1934 above the famous Barras market in Glasgow's East End, the original ballroom burned down in 1958 and was rebuilt in 1960 with its iconic neon star marquee. The sprung dancefloor, exposed steel trusses and the roar of a sold-out Glasgow crowd combine to create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Consistently voted the best venue in the UK — and often the world — it remains fiercely independent and has never lost its raw, electric soul.
